The latest collection from Laia Aguilar for The Animals Observatory is a strong, elegant reflection of her personal world.
The SS17 collection once again plays with illustrations, celebrating holidays around the world: a market in Japan, Niagara Falls or a trip to Wales. It takes its inspiration from children’s wooden puzzles to create pieces with geometric shapes and play with graphic possibilities afforded by the acronym of The Animals Observatory: T.A.O. Laia has added pieces with personal, almost secret references that are small tributes to books read, admired films and favourite painters. SS17 also aims to dignify beachwear with elegantly cut pieces that retain all the comfort and practicality of such items.
The colour range is a festival of shades, where colours and garments coexist and enhance each other in any combination. Greens, browns, whites and reds with multiples tones framed in classic fabrics such as towelling, gauze, fleece and linen and cotton jersey, amongst others.
